Mr. Shareski's first post that I read was about how technology can benefit us is many ways. I think that it is so cool that we have technology that allows us to communicate with people across the world in a matter of minutes. The consultant that they were talking to her on the projection screen just as if she was in the room. This is so convenient for us as teachers so that we can get advice from teachers around the world.

The second post I read by Mr. Shareski was all about the things that he was never told before he began his career as an educator. He says that he thinks that his students are in for a surprise when they actually do get hired, so he gives us a little insight on things we are not aware of before we become teachers. One of the points he makes really stands out to me more than the others. He mentions that as a new teacher, most of our success is based on the principal of our school. I think it is very important, especially when you're a new teacher, to work with the principal and make him or her happy. After all, they are the ones who hold your future in their hands.

  1. A better post would list all of Mr. Shareski's points about how technology benefits us and what he was not told about being an educator. Here is what I mean: After warning new teachers that the professional world of teaching is going to be very different form the professional word if the teachers who taught them, Mr. Shareski goes on to identify three major differences for teachers in the future. First, the isolation of a teacher which allowed her to consider herself as a professional is eroding. Second, the principal in your first school assignment will be a key factor in your success. Third, instruction as a key element of a teacher's job has been replaced with the role of emotional supporter, coach, and guide. These roles are very different from those you may think you are going to play as an educator.

Then you should respond to each of these arguments.

What was the other post you read? I cannot find it. You should read the most recant post or, if there are no new ones (not the case here) then the most recent older one. Please send me an email giving me the title and the date of the first post you read.

  2. I have now found the post which you discuss first. Your summary fits - sort of. I would contend that the main point of Mr. Shareski's post is that the connections we make with people, whether through the use of technology or in person, are more important than some new techniques, ideas, apps, resources that we might find out about at a conference. In other words our PLN is more important than most other things. But I see how you arrived at your conclusions. And they are appropriate.
